The jailer brought them out and asked, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?’
This is a question that everyone at a certain season of life would ask ourselves. The uncertainty of tomorrow, the inability to cause to effect things to happen and the finiteness of this life has created a void in human existence leading to the question asked by the jailer to Paul and Silas when they were jailed in Philippi (Act 16 :16 -31). The angel of the Lord had miraculously set them free from the prison, seeing the miraculous act of God in desperation the Jailer asked what must I do to be saved?’. Paul responded “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household”
There is only one “route” to salvation only one way to be eternally saved and receive the forgiveness of sin. For all have sinned against God (Romans 3:3) and have been separated from him. But God in his redemptive plan for all humanity took on the form of man and paid the penalty for all sins once and for all (Romans 5:8). His love for us (John 3 :16) confirms His desire for ‘all’ to be saved, saved from the bondage of sin and receive the forgiveness of sin and the promise of eternal life when we accept his provision of salvation by Faith in Jesus Christ as our savior (John 1:12; 3:16; 5:24).
What distinguishes the Christian faith from all other religions of the world is that God only requires our repentance and acceptance of Jesus Christ as savior from sin and the bondage attached to it whereas others give steps to be attain acceptance from God.
9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
1 John 4 :9-10
To be saved today, pray this prayer:
Dear Father, I Confess that I am a sinner and I accept your provision for my salvation by believing in my heart Jesus Christ your son, who died for me. I accept the price he paid in my place and I make you Jesus my Lord and Savior. Thank you for saving me through Jesus Christ. “Amen”
